For the last year I have been stressed out at work with a boss that I oh so wanted to punch him in the face! The stress of the last few month of transitioning and downsizing has my immune system completely out whack. While this climate is everything I’ve hoped for I left 30 degree weather behind along with my winter coat, long johns, boots, scarves and my gloves. Shorts, t-shirts and a smile – my new daily attire suits me so much better. I was a bit under the weather with a horrible sinus infection. Thank goodness I brought along some Tylenol Cold and Sinus medication. Just as I started to feel a bit better the coughing took over and I sounded like I’m was about to bring up a lung! I decided no Spanish class for me – don’t want to spread my germs. I continued to take the Tylenol but wake up in the middle of the night and had a hard time opening one eye – oh no Pinkeye! I quickly realized that I was really sick. I called my Taxi driver friend Randall Perez, Taxis Unidos de Grecia TAXI 59 (8533-5688) to take me to la farmacia. Not only did he stay with me to make sure I got my antibiotics but he brought me back to my apartment. I took the first round of pills and laid down only to be awaken hours later by a knock on the door – Randall with the best soup I’ve tasted in awhile. I am finding out very quickly that this was not an isolation incident, that these random acts of kindness happen all the time. Needless to say, the next day I was close to feeling 100 percent.
